Shirley Kathryn Lacombe Ouellette was born in Watertown, NY, April 16, 1929, to Joseph Earl and Florence Elizabeth Lacombe. She graduated from Immaculate Heart Academy in 1946 and married Lawrence Joseph Ouellette, from Adams, Mass., in 1947. Shirley was a homemaker raising seven children. She finally convinced Larry to move to Fort Myers, Florida in 1969, with five children still at home. Larry started his own business, Larry-O Plumbing, which thrived for 3 decades in Fort Myers. Shirley became active in the Lee County Genealogical Society in the 1980s and 1990s, serving as secretary and president for over 10 years. Larry died in 2003. Shortly thereafter, Shirley was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and has fought that battle, along with COPD, with help from her children and, finally, Hope Hospice. Shirley was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her sisters Marian Webb and Elaine Towne, and her grandson Jay Amante. She is survived by her brother, Howard Lacombe, Rutland, VT, and seven children: Sherry Kathryn (Allen) Hall, Alan Lawrence (Marietta) Ouellette, Doreen Elizabeth (Robert) Waggoner, Lauren Estelle Dees, David Lawrence Ouellette, Linda Ann (James) Peters, and Martin Joseph Ouellette. She leaves six grandchildren and 9-1/2 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to Hope Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association.
