Kansas City, Kansas - Shirley Posey passed away February 9, 2023 at the age of 77. Shirley was born October 10, 1945 to Jeffrey and Mary Ellen Rush. Shirley was proceeded in death by her father Jeffrey, her mother Mary, and her brother Gregory.
Shirley grew up in Kansas City, Kansas with her family, Jeffrey, Mary, Brenda, Jeffrey Jr., Karla, and Gregory. She graduated from Washington High School in 1963. Shirley gave birth to her son John Posey Jr. in 1968. Shirley worked for the Social Security Administration for 33 years. Some of her awards include Recognition of Contribution Performance Award, On-the Spot Award, and Commendable Act. or Service Award. She retired in 2004.
Shirley was independent, very generous and always willing to help others. Some of the things Shirley enjoyed were shopping, spending time with her family, giving to charities, crossword puzzles, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs play football.
Shirley leaves to mourn her son John Posey Jr. of Kansas City, Missouri, her two sisters Brenda Epps and Karla Wilson of Kansas City, Kansas, her brother Jeffery Rush Jr. of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and many extended family members and friends who brought her joy.
Graveside Service: Pastor Charles Cofield, Officiating, 11:00 a.m., Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 701 N 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas, Saturday, February 18, 2023.

I worked with Shirley for many years at Social Security. We loved giving each other a hard time. She was a hoot. Always honest in her remarks. Love to her family.
