Not sure what to say?

Dr. Gorfine is beyond a legend. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He operated on me 3 times while I was a teenager, really saving my life. I am now 49 years old, and owe him for his skill and wisdom. His candor and wit is still remembered after 35 years. 69th Street will never be the same. Sending peace into the cosmos for those he touched and in honor of his memory.

I think of Steve daily in my practice of medicine. I think of the things he would say, the jokes he would make and the music we would listen to in the OR. He was a true mentor and friend to me as he was to many of us. It was a privilege to learn from and work with him and call him a friend.

I was so sorry to hear about Dr. Gorfine´s passing. I was privileged to observe, learn from and participate with this giant in his field. Although we were in different specialties I was in awe of his surgical prowess. But even more impressive was his humanity honesty and his integrity. I will miss his sense of humor. Rest in Peace Stephen

So sorry to lose a friend, colleague, and mentor. The service was extremely moving.

Very sorry to hear this news. I posted this on Facebook awhile ago:Dr. Gorfine, Just a heartfelt thanks for literally saving my colon in 1991, 2004 and 2011 thru your surgeries. I've had Crohn's Disease for over 40 years and have been in complete remission for nearly 7 years. I'm on Humira, Entocort and 6MP. You have always been there for me when I needed you the most. You're a wonderful man and obviously a very talented surgeon. You may/may not remember me, but thanks Dr. Randy Brotman. May...
