Stephen McCormick Obituary

MCCORMICK, Stephen Francis, 84, of Midlothian, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, February 27, 2022, with his beloved wife, Anne and daughter, Mary at his side. He was born November 3, 1937 and raised by loving parents, Louise and Francis McCormick, who proceeded him in death. Steve had two sisters, Marion Peeschla and Christine Stroman, who have also passed.

Steve and his loving wife of 65 years, Anne Arendall McCormick, met as classmates at Midlothian High School and graduated together in the Class of 1955; they married in 1956. Anne was the love of Steve's life from the moment they met in the 10th grade to his last day.

Together, Steve and Anne had a close and loving family of three sons, John (Janis), William (Teri) and Michael (Robyn); and two daughters, Louise (Jeb) Putnam and Mary McCormick. Steve is also survived by seven grandchildren, Patrick (Adrienne), David (Alexandra), Samuel, Conner, Margaret, Benjamin and Lily; and five great-grandchildren. Steve was a loving influence in their lives, as well as his friends'. Throughout their marriage, Steve and Anne enjoyed many vacations with family and friends. In their retirement, they traveled extensively in Europe and motorcoached all over North America.

Steve received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Richmond in 1961, combining work, marriage and family in the pursuit of his degree. His career began as a salesman with the Gypsum company, then on to IBM and then management consulting. It culminated as the President and CEO of Madison National Life Insurance in Wisconsin. In his later years, Steve began a successful family business.

A Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus member, Steve also belonged to St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 2700 Dolfield Dr., Bon Air, Va. 23235, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 4, followed by inurnment in St. Edward's Columbarium.

In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations in Steve's name to Commonwealth Catholic Charities, 1601 Rolling Hills Dr., Richmond, Va. 23229, or a charity of your choice.

Sorry to see the announcement of Steve's passing. A well known and regular attendee at Boy's Night Out and I always enjoyed conversations with him. Rest in peace my friend.
