FARRELL, Suzanne (Curran) (Pihlaja) – Suddenly at the Sault Area Hospital on Monday, June 19, 2017 as a result of a stroke. Loving wife of Graham. Beloved mother of Christine Armstrong (Ted), the late Monica Peterson (David), and Liisa Buren (Rick). Predeceased by the father of their children, Abbie Pihlaja. Step mother of Colleen (Chris). Daughter of the late Robert & Camilla Curran. Sister of Connie Nadeau (Jack), Paul Curran (Nita), and Robert Curran (Kathleen). Loving Grandmother of Emily (Cole) and Caitlyn McCarnen (Anthony), Liam, Dylan and Chanel Buren, and Nicole McIntyre (Darren). GG of Abby and Alice. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Sister-in-law of Marion (late Bob), Beverly, David, Warren Pihlaja (Gerry), and Doreen Hyrsky (Gino). Her career started as a journalist at the Sault Star where she spent many happy years at the family business. Following that she had several other rewarding positions, such as a board member of Sault College. While working, she attained her MBA, as well as served several organizations including Christmas Cheer, United Way and many curling events. Her extensive contributions were recognized by the Zonta and Rotary Clubs. Her wishes of organ donation to the Trillium Gift of Life were fulfilled. The family would like to thank Father Hamish and the SAH staff in the Emergency Department and ICU for their hard work and compassion. Friends are invited to visit at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 10 am until 11:30 am. Funeral Mass to be celebrated from Precious Blood Cathedral at 12 pm. Rev. Hamish Currie officiating. Memorial contributions to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
