Thelma Louise Elkins

As a student and Baptist Student Union president while I knew Thelma at California Baptist College, I came under Thelma's wise and gracious counsel. She influenced my life deeply. My husband and i invited her to serve the library at our seminary in Ruschlikon, Switzerland. She served from 1993-1995 and organized the move of the library to Prague, Czech Republic, the site of our new seminary campus. She did a marvelous job on a difficult task. This wonderful woman quietly left a trail of significant contributions to the people and institutions where she lived. Since her retirement at SMU she volunteered at Cook's Children's Hospital in Fort Worth. She devoted almost 20 years to the Archives at Broadway Baptist Church. She and Glenda Stevens (deceased) were charged by the Deacons to collect and organize the historical documents of the church. Thelma maintained and grew this collection for 20 years.
