Read MoreI too was an ROTC student of Sgt. Cavanaugh's and he did so much to prepare me for life and instill in me some of his honorable character. I was drafted into the Army in 1971 and what Sgt. Cavanaugh taught me was put to good use. I think I was a better soldier and even a better civilian because of him. I give my condolences to the family for their loss and I know Sgt. Cavanaugh will be miss by many.

Deepest sympathies. I was in the first ROTC class when girls were allowed to participate. He did so much for the program. He was well-respected by all.
