Thomas Hamilton Fletcher Thomas Hamilton Fletcher, 81, of Ruckersville, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2013. Mr. Fletcher was born on February 21, 1932, in West Orange, New Jersey, the son of the late Albert E. Fletcher and the late Dorothy E. Stowell. Tom graduated from Colgate University, a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity, with a B.A. in Political Science, 1954. He joined IBM and worked in the NYC offices while earning an M.B.A. in Corporation Finance from NYU, 1962. Tom worked at IBM for 33 years in the NYC, Washington, D.C., and Richmond, Virginia offices coordinating sales with product development in industry and government. He earned personal royalties for innovative scheduling and data sharing systems. An avid golfer, he founded the Greater Richmond Senior Golf Association and initiated interclub play at the Wintergreen Resort. As a lifelong bridge enthusiast, he played duplicate and tournament bridge and became a Bronze Life Master. Tom was Treasurer for Lewinsville Presbyterian Church, McLean, Virginia, and for Rockfish Presbyterian Church, Nellysford, Virginia. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Jones Fletcher of Ruckersville, Virginia; stepmother, Trudi Fletcher of Tubac, Arizona; brother, Bruce Fletcher and wife, Liz, of Chesterfield Virginia; four daughters, Linda Mitchell and husband, Jeff, of Purcellville, Virginia, Judith Richards and husband, Robert, of Leesburg, Virginia, Margaret Saine and husband, Mark, of Pully, Switzerland, and Virginia Clements and husband, Barry, of Severna Park, Maryland; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013, at the Madison Presbyterian Church with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
