Grandpa Tom was the only grandfather I knew. I remember my visit to California at 9 years old and remember how welcoming grandpa Tom was to me. I enjoyed helping him collect cans and recycle them but crushing then with his can crusher first. I remember with great fondness when he came to Philadelphia when I was 11 and gave me a watch for Christmas which was the best present I have ever received to this day from anyone.
