ROCKVILE- Vernon Ray Baker, 67, of Rockville, Indiana died at 4:45 pm Tuesday, September 18, 2012 in Carle Foundation Hospital at Urbana, Illinois. He was born March 2, 1945 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Vernon Eugene Baker and Patricia Marie Coslett Baker Patrick. Survivors include two sisters, Donna M. Howe of Bardstown, Kentucky and Barbara Sue Keach of Sikeston, Missouri; one brother, Bruce Baker of Bardstown, Kentucky; three aunts, Betty Wilson of Camby, Indiana, Barbara Grant of Indianapolis, Indiana and Connie Dooley of Bowling Green, Missouri. He was preceded in death his step-father, Donald C. Patrick, a brother, Larry Baker; uncle, Jack Coslett; aunts, Mary Flinn and Sue Mattingly. He attended Jeffersonville (IN ) High School. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the Army. He was Christian by Faith and a member of the AMVETS Post 61 of Rockville and the Disabled American Veterans. Services will be 3:00 pm Saturday, September 22, in Gooch Funeral Home at 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville, with Pastor Larry Joe Blue and Michael Sutphin officiating. Military honors will follow services by Parke County Veterans. Visitation is Saturday from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm at Gooch Funeral Home. A graveside committal service will be 2:00 pm Monday, September 24, in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery in New Albany, Indiana. Memorials should friends so desire, may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 2439 W. 16th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46222 in his memory.
