Wade Byrd Obituary

Family-Placed Funeral Notice

WADE R. BYRD, Jr. Wade R. Byrd, Jr., age 43 of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2006. Wade was born October 2, 1963 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Wade attended Palm Beach Day School, Palm Beach Public, and graduated Cardinal Newman High School in 1982. He attended Duke University and graduated in 1986 with B.A. in History and Political Science. Upon graduating, Wade worked as a Political Aide to Governor Jim Martin of North Carolina. He then attended Mercer School of Law, graduating in 1989. In his senior law year, Wade was nominated and attended the International Baccalaureate Program of the European Economic Council hosted by England, Germany, France and Belgium. Wade loved swimming and diving, sunrises, walking on the beach with his dogs...passion for nature...hiking in the Grand Canyon or in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina. He had respect and kind words for all; and loved to travel with family and friends in Europe and Latin America. Wade practiced law in Lenoir, North Carolina; and later taught History and English at Cardinal Newman where he also served as Dean of Admissions and Chairman of Fundraising. He loved working with students. Wade left teaching to get into Marketing and joined with Brian Stewart of Brian Stewart & Associates in the marking of specialty home items. Wade was a person of compassion and love with an unyielding search for the meaning of life. If you were looking for a nice guy, someone to call a friend, you found that person in Wade. Wade is survived by his mother, Sharon Noel Stewart; his father, Wade R. Byrd, Sr.; sister, Michel Byrd Ellis (Tom) and their children, Nicole, Noel, Nobel and Natalie; sister, Nicole Byrd Henderson (Dale) and their children, Lucy, Lilly and Jay; and a host of other relatives and friends. Wade was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry W. and Anita Stewart of Palm Beach and Lynn and Ada Byrd of Rutherfordton, North Carolina. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2006, at 4:00 P.M. at Bethesda-By-The-Sea Episcopal Church, 141 South County Road, Palm Beach, Florida with the Rev. Ralph R. Warren, Jr., D.D., Rector, officiating. To the Byrd Family,
My deepest sympathy and prayers go out to you. Wade, Jr was such a special person to me. We went to Cardinal Newman together and he was one of my dearest friends. We spent many a time driving our teachers crazy, only for Wade to one day be one, too. I will always remember his loving soul and acceptance of everyone. He used to always call me "chica" and I will never forget him or his gentle heart.
He would be proud of the memorial service yesterday and the turn out of friends. He would also be annoyed you made such a fuss.
God Speed Wade to your soul.

Wade, Sr., Michele & Nicole; We were so shocked to hear of young Wade's passing. I have such fond memories of Wade as a young teenager at the Sailfish Club pool, goofing off with his sisters and giving us lifeguards a hard time. Although I haven't seen Wade since the late 70's, his warm spirit left its impression in my heart. May God bless you and comfort your family this Christmas, knowing Wade has joined the heavenly host, celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. He will always be with you in spirit! I know my brother Doug and his son, Doug III live on in our family's hearts.
