Walter and I served on IMF missions to African countries. He was a great colleague with a sensitivity toward the people we were trying to help. I will always remember his sense of humor and dedication to his profession as a bank supervisor. I miss him much.

I miss you, my friend. You will always be remembered. The mission to Malawi is still fresh in my memory.

Walter has been not only advisor to us but a very precious friend and expert to the Licensing and Supervision Department of Central Bank of Somalia. I would like on behalf of Licensing Supervision Department Staff Central Bank of Somalia to express our deep gratitude to all the work that Walter has done for us, he built our commercial banking system in Somalia. We will surely miss him and we express of empathy to his beloved team work. We will be remembered Walter and our prayers to the family.

Walter never told me his nickname, but all of us who knew him, held him in the highest regard, always enjoyed his company, appreciated his love for Betsy, relished in being his colleague and friend, never called him anything but Walter. Many around the world will miss him greatly. I miss him very, very much especially being on mission now with his beloved Somali bank supervisory team. My sincerest condolences. He was a great man.
