Walter J. Jerdan

Walter J. Jerdan Sr. passed away peacefully on Friday, January 11, 2013 at St. John Neumann Nursing Home in Philadelphia surrounded by his loving family. He was 99.

Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Jerdan was a long time resident of Quakertown and Levittown.

He was the devoted husband of Laura Jane Jerdan for 67 years who preceded him in death in 2003.

Until retiring, Mr. Jerdan was employed with Leeds and Northrup as a Tool and Dye maker and previously he was the owner and operator of the Sunoco gas station on New Falls Road in Levittown for many years.

He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner, along with being a union member of the U.A.W.

His favorite lifetime hobbies were golf and bowling.

Mr. Jerdan was the loving father of Warren M. Jerdan and his wife Nancy of Sharbot Lake, Canada, Florence L. Jerdan of Patchogue, NY and Walter J. Jerdan Jr. and his wife Deborah of Levittown with whom he resided.

He will be sadly missed by his 3 granddaughters Annette (Don) Benedict, Jennifer (Marty) Burns, Amy (Paul) Leinheiser, their mother Kathleen, and step granddaughter Jennifer Young. He was the cherished great grandfather of 12.

He is also survived by his brother Albert of Philadelphia and sister Ada Morrison of Trevose and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call Monday from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown where his funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Interment at Whitemarsh Memorial Park will be private.
