Not sure what to say?

at Reading 2012

It was so sad to hear of Walter's passing. I met Walter at the Reading air show two years ago just before his book was published. I brought a copy of the book to this years show for him to sign. We all should admire his courage, sacrafice and service to our country. I will continue to honor him as I teach current students about his story and others from the greatest generation.

I had the honor of helping your Father mail packages with special stamps on them,as he so enjoyed doing..... I purchased his book for my Father, and my Father loved it.... He was such an interesting, and kind gentle man.... I will remember him always....

I was lucky enough to meet and talk with Mr. Mattson at the WW2 Weekend event in Reading last year. Thanks to him for sharing his story of Love of country and sacrifice for a grateful nation. God Bless Walter and his family.

I was privileged to meet Walter and share his story with our viewers. His bravery in uniform and love for our country will forever be saluted.

Mr. Mattson with my family. I will miss you.

Mr. Mattson was truly a sweet and kind gentleman. I stopped by to see him and talk to him several times with my wife and kids, and got the chance to meet his wife who was as equally as sweet. I will really miss him. thinking of his laugh and his smile bring a sile to my face. i a very saddened by the news of the passing of this WW2 hero and great faily man. I smile a little more with the thought of knowing he is now with his beautiful wife. My condolences to his family on their great loss....

Dear Gene
We were sorry to learn of your Dad's death. Ken Menut gave us a copy of your Dad's book & what a treasure. We send our caring & heartfelt sympathy.

To the Family of Walter Mattson:

Walter Matson was a class act. Upon discovering a Tuskegee Airman resided in Harrisburg, he made an effort to meet and thank him. Although the gentleman was to ill to recieve Mr. Mattson, Walter agreed to attend a movie celebrating their WWll experience and educated a group of kids about the era. I thought we'd meet again and know we will. RIP Mr. Mattson.

To the Mattson family,

My association with your Mom and Dad was through the Polish Cultural Association. They were a gentle and caring couple who remembered their heritage. As a true and humble American hero, he never mentioned his war exploits. I salute Connie and Walter as they deserve to rest with the LORD in all glory forever and ever- AMEN.

Dear Cousins, I love this picture of Uncle Gene - it makes me smile. I have a wonderful picture of him with that famous grin from our trip to Pennsylvania last summer. I will cherish it always. He was a remarkable man and all of us here in Colorado hold you in our hearts during this time of sorrow.

With love, Linda
