Not sure what to say?

I was so sorry to hear about Mr. Urban's death. Walter Urban was such a kind teacher and really just a fun person to know. I studied with him for 4 years. Mr. Urban was also a very good friend to my mother, Edith Thompson, for many years. She enjoyed playing in the Florence Piano Ensemble under his direction. He had a very subtle sense of humor which I always enjoyed. I always loved it when he was the organist at North Wood and he would occasionally play the Bach Toccata and Fugue in D...

I took piano lessons from Mr.Urban for many years... He taught me so much about teaching piano- many techniques I still use today. He will be missed. I am sure he is playing the organ at the big church in the sky and making beautiful music for all to enjoy.

My sincere condolences to all who loved Mr. Urben. He made a tremendous impression on me as a child/young adult with his remarkable musical performances on the North Wood Methodist Church pipe organ. His talents will always be remembered...

I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Urben. I started taking lessons from him as a freshman in high school, and later as I attended the University of North Alabama. He was such a great influence in my life, and always encouraged me to reach my fullest potential as a pianist. May God bless and comfort you all in your time of loss. And know that your loved one was very much respected and admired by those whose lives he touched.

Steve sorry for lose, thinking of you.

I am sorry to hear of loosing Mr. Urben. He was a very important of my life as a musician. I studied with him for approximately 6 years. He was the consumate professional as well as being a great man. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to know and study with him.

While I didn't know Mr. Urben personally, I was privileged to hear him play on several occasions and know he had to be a great inspiration to those that were fortunate to study with him. He was a great blessing to UNA and Florence and will be missed.

Steve, the last time I talked to you and your Dad was at Pope's Tavern's open house. Your Dad was always such an inspiration and he was very kind to me- even when my voice was changing and I tried to sing in choir at North Wood United Methodist. We will always remember him and all the work he did to advance music in the Florence area.

How accomplished and talented he was! You were blessed to have him, Steve. I am very sorry for your loss.
