William Glen Bickner
July 3, 1926 - February 17, 2017 (90!)
Born outside Regina Saskatchewan the youngest of 8 whose father died young in a threshing accident, Bill grew up looking after his mother. Moving to Vancouver after the War to be with older sisters, he bought his first house at 18 for him and his mother. Soon after he met the love of his life Lee (Lydia Albrecht). Married for 68 years they raised daughter Linda (Brian) who later had David (Danine with Anaston & Liam) and Nicola: and son Wayne (Donna) who later had Scott (Kris with Ryen & Lexi); Amie (Trevor) and Matthew. Moving to Sullivan Station, Surrey in 1952, he was involved in his community while working for BC Electric - in several capacities from trams to buses, to supervisor at their gas division - now Fortis. Bill loved to travel first camping with family and friends then later throughout the world and enjoyed people of all cultures, speaking Bicknerish and sharing a good glass of wine in attempts to communicate. He loved beauty, creating it in the gardens of their homes, his paintings and carvings. Most of all he loved his family. We love and miss him dearly. We know you are walking amongst flowers looking toward the sunset.

Dear Linda,
I just heard the sad news about your dad. I'm so very sorry for your loss. Your dad was a wonderful man that I admired very much. I have many memories of spending time as a teenager at your house and enjoying your dad's great sense of humour. He made me feel like part of the family. I'll never forget all of us gathering around the piano and singing Christmas carols... and then there was the time he tried to teach me to dance. He kept telling me I had to loosen up. And, of course, he was such a good friend to my dad. He was one of a kind. Please know that I'm thinking of you and please pass on my condolences to your mom, Wayne and the rest of the family.
Sincerely, Adrienne
