Dearest Fran,
My thoughts of love are with you during this time and I will always remember Walter for his wonderful way of making people feel good. He was the first person to speak to me at North Foster Baptist and I will never forget him. Knowing you is also a blessing. My prayers to you and your family as I know you know that God will provide his mercy and grace to you all.
Much love, Vikki Cunningham

My deepest sympathy to the Grass Family during this time. Many of my high school years were spent at the Grass home and I have nothing but fond memories. I recall, at first, being slightly intimidated by Mr.Grass. However, that feeling was short lived as it did not take long to realize how much he loved and cared for his family and homestead. I will keep you all in my thoughts in prayers.

Dearest Fran and family: Know that our love and prayers are with you now, and in the days that lie ahead. We enjoyed our friendship with Walter and learned much from his vast knowledge on so many subjects. It was a joy to be with him on his 90th birthday. Keep God's promise of Eternal Life and know that we shall see Walter again.

My deepest sympathy truly goes out to the entire Grass family, Walters friends and the endless amount of people whose lives were touched by Walters "gentle yet gruff kindness" in one way or another.
Seems like a lifetime ago that I had the privilege to be part of this excellent family and learned many life lessons and skills during that time, especially while working with him. (He even got me to go to church on occasion)
You can search the world over and never find another man like...
