GRESHAM, William B., 83, of Dunnsville, Va., departed this life February 4, 2013. He was born on December 21, 1929, to the late Vern Pollard Gresham and Mary Ethel Bayton Gresham. Educated in the public schools of Essex County and the Rappahannock Industrial Academy, he received bachelor's and master's degrees from Virginia State University and Virginia Commonwealth University, respectively. A Korean War veteran, he was employed by Essex County Public Schools for nearly 40 years, first as a classroom teacher and for the last 17 years as assistant principal at Essex High School. Mr. Gresham was active in church and civic affairs. He was a deacon and trustee of Angel Visit Baptist Church, Dunnsville, Va. He served on the board of the Essex Public Library, and held leadership roles in the Tappahannock Kiwanis Club, the Essex Branch of the NAACP, the Rappahannock Industrial Academy Alumni Association, and the Tri-County Deacon and Deaconess Union. He is survived by his wife, Cassell R. Gresham; a daughter, Carlene V. Coleman and her husband, William Curtis Coleman; two sons, Michael C. Gresham and Kevin M. Gresham; one sister-in-law, Mildred Tyler; one brother-in-law, Robert P. Ransome III; several nieces and nephews, and many cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Angel Visit Baptist Church, 29566 Tidewater Trail, Dunnsville, Va. 22454, where viewing will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 8, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m., with a memorial service from 7 to 8 p.m. at the church. Memorial gifts may be made to Angel Visit Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1021, Dunnsville, Va. 22454.

He was kind, fair and good to the children of Essex High School. We were blessed to have him as an leader/ educator. I have a lot of happy memories of Mr. Gresham.
