DERMA - William Oliver Hardin, 85, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at the State Veterans Home in Kosciusko. He was born Sept. 19, 1917, to Noah Hardin and Mary Elizabeth Doss Hardin in Chickasaw County. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, PFC, Company A 155th Infantry, and received a Purple Heart. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the First Pentecostal Church in West Point.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at the Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Vardaman with the Rev. Stanley Baylock and the Rev. Billy Ray Patterson officiating. Burial followed in the Midway Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Kate Inman Hardin of Derma; three daughters, Merry Ann Langford of Derma, Shirley Elizabeth Winter of West Point and Toni Rose Robinson of Grenada; two sisters, Corene Griffin of Houston and Collette Flowers of Horn Lake; one brother, Darrell Hardin of Houston; three grandchildren; Terry Langford, Tammy Nethery and Penny Hughes; three great-grandchildren, Mary Katelyn Nethery, Alli Beth Nethery and Amber Michelle Hughes; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Amanda Hughes and Brandon Hughes.

Pallbearers were Junior Langford, James Paul Winter, Allen Nethery, Mike Hardin, Roger Smith, Robert Earl McGregor, Hal Parker, Troy Whitten, Terry Langford, Bosie Dye and Wilmer Bailey.
