Hi Dad
You died 7 years before I was born.
Miss you Mandy & LucyxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxP.S. Lucy & Mandy were your daughters.

Dear Mrs Hootkins and family,

I am very sorry to hear of Bill's passing. Although I only saw Bill a few times, I know what a wonderful person he was from the joy he brought to his father. I remember how he used to just beam with pride whenever Bill was mentioned. I can still see Mr. Hootkins smile as he, Reba and I would talk about Bill's latest movie or TV show.
Our thoughts are with you.

Take care.

My uncle was a friend of Mr. Hootkins' at St. Marks, and was so touched by his friendship that we, his niece and nephew, would hear stories about him. I was always tickled to recognize him on screen. Reading about his inspiring life and extraordinary interests, I am sorry that I did not have the chance to know him personally, but it is obvious that he was loved and will be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

A live well lived.
A loss so great.....

Rest well Hoot. We all love you.

I knew Bill for fully forty years, from St. Mark's Days, Harlequin Players, Princeton's Summer Intime, our overlapping years in London, and finally in Los Angeles. I am so much richer for having been his friend. Thank you, Bill, and sweet good night.
Much love, as always,
Mark

Bill was a great person who was both larger than life and charmingly approachable. He added a dramatic, Falstaffian flair to the St. Mark's fencing team.

I was fortunate to renew friendship with Bill when I was Rector of St. James' Church in Hyde Park, NY. He was performing with the English Chamber Theatre as Churchill in a play about the personal correspondence between Churchill and FDR.

Bill will be greatly missed. Shalom, my friend.
