William Bruce McCulloch

I first spoke to Bruce in November 1963 in Regina where we were both new hires in the Saskatchewan Department of Public Health. I last spoke to him on the telephone from my home in North Vancouver in November 2017, two days before his unexpected death. The last conversation was one of hundreds of lengthy calls we had over those fifty four years.

I've only just learned that Bruce had passed away and was so incredibly sad to learn this news. I first met Bruce in 1974 when I joined the Rent Review Commission as a clerk. Bruce was beyond the norm at the time in that he encouraged women to compete and work their way up the ladder and pretty soon, I was an Investigative Officer at the Office of the Rentalsman, thanks to his unwavering support. Bruce became my mentor in 1980 when we both worked for the Deregulation Program. We remained friends. I respected and admired him immensely. Rest in peace, friend.

Aggie, I am so very sorry to read of your husband's passing. I do remember our times together and I also recall a get together one Christmas Eve, a long time ago.

Bruce hired me to work for him in the Provincial Govt. in 1978. He was a wonderful boss and friend from whom I learned so much which helped me for the rest of my life. He was very highly thought of by everyone who had the opportunity to get to know him. He was a true gentleman and scholar. It was a privilege to know Bruce.
