WILLIAM WEBSTER Obituary

Webster October 30, 1929 - June 30, 2018 OKLAHOMA CITY "Wild Bill" Webster passed from this life Saturday evening, June 30th, 2018. Bill was born Oct. 30, 1929 at Hubbard Hospital in OKC, and lived his entire life in the OKC area. He met his future wife, Elaine Foster, in Jr. High, and they were 1948 graduates of Central High School. Bill and Elaine married on Oct. 21st, 1949 at St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral, and were together for 67 years until Elaine's passing in March, 2017. Bill is a proud U.S. Navy Veteran, serving during the Korean War. Bill spent his professional career at The Oklahoma Publishing Company and served as the Manager of the Accounting Department. He was proud to be an OPUBCO employee for nearly 40 years. Bill was a former member, and past president of DPMA (Data Processing Management Assoc.), and he and Elaine were members of the OKC Gridiron Club, and the Okie "A's" Model A Club. He also enjoyed his McDonald's Breakfast Club buddies. Bill loved his "roles" in the Gridiron Skits, especially the Playboy Bunny and "the drunk" that seemed to find his way into the script each year! He and Elaine also loved Model A Club trips and parades. Bill exemplified compassion and was committed to doing things the right way while always treating others right in the process. His great sense of humor was always on display, and always seemed to ease tensions and brighten & warm our hearts. Our Dad's #1 priority in life was to take care of all "his girls", and through his success in this lifelong endeavor, he taught us how to take care of ourselves and each other. His kind, humorous, unassuming spirit lives on in all of us. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine; his parents, Dan & Jessie Webster; and his brother, Danny. He is survived by his 3 daughters, Shirley Webster & Hanky, Sue Harris & husband Terry, and Shelley Waggoner & husband David; 2 grandsons, Brian Wise & Collin Waggoner; granddaughter, Jennifer Linsenbarth & husband Josh; 2 great grandchildren, Jacob & Josie. Special thanks to Interim Hospice for their care and compassion for our family, most especially Amber, Julie, Matt, C.L., and Lisa J. Services for Bill will be Sat., July 7, 1:00 pm, at St. Mark's Methodist Church in Bethany. Visitation will be Thursday, July 5, 6-8 pm at Bill Merritt Funeral Service in Bethany.

I worked with Bill from 1978 to 1986 in OKC. Not a finer man did I ever know. With great respect, I pass on to his children my sincere condolences. I´m not sure why I thought of him this cold Friday night, March 11, 2022. He obviously impacted my life and I´m proud to call him friend and associate. God bless. Terry
