William L. Woodside Sr. William L. Woodside Sr., 87, of Mt. Holly Springs, passed away Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at his residence.
William was born Nov. 8, 1929, in McGrann, to the late Orville King and Mary Myrtle Klingensmith Woodside.
William retired in 1991, after 39 years of service, from PPG Industries, where he was a production supervisor. An United States Army veteran, William served during the Korean War. He was also a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle, and life member of the VFW, Post 7343, Mt. Holly Springs. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. William enjoyed collecting Budweiser and other memorabilia.
Surviving is his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Ellen Thevenin Woodside; a son, William L. Woodside Jr. of Mt. Holly Springs; daughters Deborah Houck and husband, Thomas, of Carlisle, Ruth Ann Woodside of Mechanicsburg, Brenda Boyd of Minneapolis, Minn., Sandra Cole and husband, Steven, of Endwell, N.Y., Amy Hewitt and husband, Konrad, of Easton, Pa., Cathy Myers of Carlisle, Mary Hair and husband, Brent, of Walnut Bottom, Pa. and Jacqueline Bear of Huntsdale; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Linnie Rodgers of Elderton; and his loving dog, "Daisy Mae."
William is preceded in death by siblings, King Woodside Jr., Robert D. Woodside, Helen Hartman, Dorothy Bouch, Betty Mohney, Lois Jean Smith, and Willavena Woodside, who passed in childhood. He is also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Tim Bear.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the St. Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Drive, Carlisle, Pa. 17015 with the Very Rev. William C. Forrey as celebrant. A viewing will be held Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, from 6- 8 p.m. in the Hollinger Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 501 N. Baltimore Ave., Mt. Holly Springs, Pa. 17065. Burial will be held with military honors, provided by the Cumberland County Honor Guard, in the Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 152 E.
