Willie Ray "Beav" Smith, Jr., 77, of Beaumont, Texas passed away Friday, January 29th, 2021, at Houston Methodist Hospital.

He was born in Nacogdoches, Texas on October 15th, 1943, to Georgia Oretha Curl Smith and Coach Willie Ray Smith, Sr.

Willie Ray was raised in Beaumont and played football at Charlton Pollard High School coached by his father, and alongside his brothers, Lawrence "Tody" Smith and Charles "Bubba" Smith.

A standout in high school, Willie Ray later attended the University of Iowa on a full scholarship before transferring to the University of Kansas.

Willie Ray lived in Los Angeles, California, working in the entertainment industry with his brother, Bubba, before joining the US Forest Service.

Willie Ray spent the last 30 years of his life in Beaumont.

Willie Ray is survived by his two children Sekou Smith and Jamila Smith-Loud and eight grandchildren Sabrina, Trayveon, Semira, Eli, SirRay, Cole, Austin, Kali-Nisa, his former wife Paula Smith Minor, and countless dear friends and family.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father Willie Ray Smith Sr. and Georgia Smith and his brothers Charles "Bubba" Smith and Lawrence "Tody" Smith.
