Wilma Allen Obituary

Wilma R. Allen
11/04/1925 - 07/17/2024
Wilma Jean Robertson Allen, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, the 17th of July 2024, while living in Houston. She was born on the 4th of November 1925, in Dallas, to John Dura and Wilma Hall Robertson. She was 98 years of age.
Her two older protective brothers were Hall and J.D. She graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas and then attended Texas Tech University. After transferring to the University of Texas at Austin, she earned a BBA, was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority and a Bluebell.
While there, Claude T. Allen captured her heart and after he graduated from law school they were married in Dallas on the 2nd of June 1951. They lived in Houston and after an experimental operation were blessed with three sons fifteen months apart. Two of them were identical twins.
Life was really busy raising three boys with baseball, scouts, and vacations out west. Once they were older, she was able to follow her passion of being a tour operator. As an owner in Lone Star Travelers and later her own company Allen Tours, Inc., she planned, marketed, and guided bus tours around the USA and Canada. She loved it! When she was not doing tours, she enjoyed her twice monthly lifelong bridge club. One day while walking in a theater, Glen Campbell's voice captivated her with "True Grit." She and dad became big fans. Later in life, she really just enjoyed being in her home where she and her husband had raised their boys. There was strength, beauty, and dignity in her demeanor. A smile usually shined on her face radiating happiness. Kindness and gentleness described her, but she definitely had her own mind.
Christ was very important in her life, and she loved reading her Bible and devotional. She was the most wonderful and beautiful mother. It has been a year since her passing, and we continue to miss her very much. Knowing that she is in heaven does comfort us.
She was predeceased by her husband, Claude T. Allen; parents, John Dura and Wilma Hall Robertson; and brothers, Hall, and J.D. Robertson.
Wilma is survived by her sons, Claude T. Allen, Jr., Matthew R. Allen and wife Marcia, and Lee D. Allen and wife Valerie; and grandchildren, Ashley, Lindsay, William, and Kristen.
She is buried with her husband at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
