Yoko Moro KanekoResident of Carefree, AZ 83, passed away July 3, 2011. Yoko was born on May 31, 1928 in Tokyo, Japan, one of seven children. She graduated from Kyoritsu University in Tokyo. Read MoreMy mother was a huge fan of Yoko while she was in the Detroit area. She was saddened to hear of her passing. I, too have admired Yoko's work and my mother recently gave me two paintings she purchased long ago. I will cherish them forever. May she rest in Peace.

I was in a textile design class with Yoko at the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan in the late 70;s or early 80's. It was so refreshing to have a fellow student that wasn't a dumb girl. Seriously. One day she was testing her dyes and she painted something --a flower -- that made me wonder if it was actually possible to teach creativity or art or drawing or painting. Meaning, you either could or couldn't. And I told her so. ...
