Mark Goralski Obituary

Mark Goralski, age 57, of Naperville, IL, passed away at home, after courageously battling many health setbacks, on Sunday, September 23, 2018. He was born in South Bend, Indiana, on October 1, 1960, to Josephine and William Goralski. Mark is survived by his wife, Peggy, and leaves a legacy of three wonderful children, Joshua, Bethany, and Hannah. He is also survived by two siblings, Patrick (Kim) Goralski and Lori Eyth, many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Mark received a degree in marketing from Indiana State University, Terre Haute and a Master's in Business Administration degree from Benedictine University in Lisle, IL. He was employed as a national account manager by Think 360. An active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Naperville, Mark served as a Eucharistic Minister and was involved on the finance committee, the spiritual life committee, and prison ministry. He drew great strength and joy from his Cursillo grouping friends and the 6:30 communion service faith community at St. Thomas. The way that Mark dealt with his many health challenges inspired all who knew him. He will be remembered for his infectious smile, his caring manner, his gentleness, his strength, and, most of all, his faith. He dearly loved his God, his family, and all of the memories with his 'church friends'. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said that "The measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." In times of challenge, Mark bravely stood tall. Mark received a successful kidney transplant from his son, Joshua, in 2011. Because of that experience, organ donation and transplantation are causes very dear to him. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network, 425 Spring Lake Drive, Itasca, IL 60143, (630) 758-2600, www.giftofhope.org. Gift of Hope's mission is to save and enhance the lives of as many people as possible through organ and tissue donation. Visitation Wednesday, September 26, 2018, 4:00-8:00 PM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1500 Brookdale Rd., Naperville with a wake service at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 27, 11:00 AM at the church with Rev. Joel Fortier officiating. A luncheon will follow at the church. Interment: Private. Arrangements by Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Naperville, IL. For more information, please call (630) 355-0213 or visit www.friedrich-jones.com

Mark was a childhood friend of mine. We spent countless hours playing sports and figuring out what life was all about. He was a great friend with a huge heart who never had a bad word to say about anyone. My deepest condolences to the entire Goralski family. May God be with you all.

Mark gave so much of himself to his beautiful family and his brothers and sisters in Christ, which he would tell you included everybody he ever met. He was always there. For all of us. I especially remember how much he meant to the staff and residents at the Warrenville Youth Center. They loved him, too. If Jesus is there to meet us on the other side, and I truly believe He is, He has just welcomed Mark with a "Well done, my good and faithful servant".
