Andrew DeShazer Obituary

Andrew Robert DeShazer, age 42, of Chicago, Illinois passed away at Swedish Covenant Hospital on Wednesday, May 20, 2015. Andrew was born on November 19, 1972 in Aurora, Illinois. Andy was an avid Ice Hockey and Football player. He played on the Naperville Sabres Youth Hockey team and Wheaton Central High School, where he played an integral part in getting Ice Hockey to be included as a team sport. He was a goalie in the first ever WCHS Hockey game played as a team. Andy was a professional house painter for several years before he became too ill to work. A kidney transplant was performed with a kidney given to him from his Aunt Diane. He was in and out of the hospital approximately 21 times, having to be put on intravenous antibiotics to fight the never ending infections. The transplanted kidney had to be removed after a year. That led to having kidney dialysis 4-5 times over the next four years. All of these treatments took a huge toll on Andy's body. Andy is survived by his loving fiancée, Jessica Burnight; his daughter, Landyn Renae DeShazer; his son, Colin Andrew DeShazer; parents, Carl and Debra (nee Glover) DeShazer; sister, Carrie (Stacey) Miskelley; brother, Robert Wesley DeShazer and his fiancée, Tiffany Roos; nephew, Keaton Miskelley and fiancée, Alicia Wharton; nieces, Kerigan and Karsyn Miskelley; future father-in-law, Tom Burnight, future brother-in-law, Tim Burnight; his beloved Puggle, Mr. Preston, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Homes & Crematory, 516 S. Washington Street, Naperville. Funeral Service Wednesday, 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment Warrenville Cemetery.
