Jose Manuel (Pepe) Acosta was born in Camaguey, Cuba to Eulalia Cor redera Acosta and Dr. Santiago Manuel Acosta. In 1960, at 13 years young, his parents sent him and his 17 year old sister to Miami FL with hopes of joining them soon after. Unfortunately the government of Cuba changed faster than they had anticipated and were unable to leave. Santiago was born in the Canary Islands January 1, 1902 and lost his battle to cancer on October 28, 1972 in Havana Cuba. Eulalia was born in Havana, Cuba August 25, 1914 was finally able to flee Cuba in 1972. She was laid to rest on June 17, 1979 in Miami, FL.
Pepe moved to Naples, FL in 1963 and started working for Municipal Supply Sign Company at the age 16. He met the love of his life at the Naples Pier in 1967 and married soon after.
Pepe was a loving husband, father and grandfather and he has now gone to rest after a long battle with cancer. Papi will be missed dearly but has left behind many great memories. He was employed at Municipal Supply & Sign Company from October 1, 1963 to October 17,2013 when the cancer would no longer allow him to continue.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Michelle Acosta of Naples FL; his sister, Pura Acosta of Miami; his daughter and sonin-law, Keith and Carmen Duerr (Carmen Acosta) of Naples FL; and four grandchildren, Travis and Haily LaRocque of Naples, FL and Nolan and Kelsey Duerr of Naples, FL.
