Dr. Donald Charles Logan

Dr. Donald Charles Logan died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at his residence. He was 69.
Formerly of Madison, WI he had been a resident of Bonita Springs since 2005. Don was born June 21, 1943 in Standish, MI a son of the late Thomas Charles and Dora May (Yenior) Logan. He attended Michigan Technological University for his undergraduate degree. In 1968, Don received his medical degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. He went on to complete his internal Medicine Residency at the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY in 1973, and a fellowship in Cardiology at the University of Rochester, Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. On August 1, 1975, Don joined the Cardiology Department at Dean Clinic in Madison, WI where he specialized in interventional cardiology procedures. Don also served as an investigator for the National Registry of Myocardial Infarction and Director of St. Mary's Hospital Intensive Care, where he was instrumental in the development of the Dean/St. Mary's Cardiology Program. In addition to maintaining a busy practice, Don played an active role in Dean Clinic leadership through numerous committees and governance. Don later served as a Medical Director of Regional Services, where he pioneered Dean Clinic's specialty outreach program to rural communities in Southern Wisconsin. On the State level, Don was a leader in the formation of the Wisconsin Collaborative for Healthcare Quality (WCHQ). In 1995, Don became the first SMDV Medical Director and then in 1998, Don became the first Chief Medical Officer of Dean Clinic and served in this role until his retirement in September of 2008. He was very active in civic duties, including President of the Copperleaf Council of Presidents.
He was also an avid golfer, a member of the Brooks Fishing Club and a true auto racing enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Logan; sons, Marc (Becky) Logan of Lee's Summit, MO, Scott (Kim Johnson) Logan of Anaconda, MT; brother Tom (Sue) Logan of Lansing, MI; and grandchildren, Jacob, Abby and Orion.
A Memorial service will be held at a later date this spring in Madison, WI and will be announced when further details are available.

Arrangements are being handled by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home.

Connie, hope you´re well. Already 10 years, father time is quick.
I to think about Don quite often, he was a good friend and certainly a car guy. I miss his way of reasoning car situations. Made for interesting conversation. I miss that.
I retired from the shop 2 years ago too care for my bride, I lost her in November from health issues. Don helped her numerous times, never forgotten.

I am so sorry, Don was one of the Best. In the 80's and 90's I had many good stories with Don. I will cherish those memories very much. If you ever need car advice I am a phone call away...Jeff

Mrs.Logan So sorry about your loss. Dr. Logan was a great man whom I will remember fondly and often thought of him when MSU beat WI or visa versa! WE all shared some fond memories which will help you get through this time. I am here if you need anything. Love, Dianne
