Ann J. Barthell(1928 - 2018)

Ann J. Barthell

Naples, FL

Ann J. Barthell, 90, formerly of Dracut Massachusetts, passed peacefully away in Naples, Florida at dawn on a beautiful summer day of August 18, 2018. Ann was born in Hoboken, New Jersey, the daughter of Nathan and Katie (Raines) Barnett on May 24, 1928. She was raised in Boston, the younger sister of two brothers, the late Nathan and Joseph Barnett, both of San Diego, CA. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 46 years, the late William "Bill" Barthell.

Ann was gentle, quiet, kind, and reserved. Her greatest and proudest role in life was being a loving wife to Bill and mother to her two children, Jean R. Bradshaw of Naples, Florida and Ronald J. (Kathleen) Harbour of Spring Hill, Florida. In addition to Jean and Ron, Ann is survived by her two treasured granddaughters, Dawn Irish of Chelmsford, Massachusetts and Kathryn "Kate" (Stephan) Dumas of Fort Myers, Florida, also an adored great grandson, Lucas "Luke" Dumas, who brought many smiles and great joy to her these past three years. Most important to her was maintaining a lovely and comforting home for her family. Ann enjoyed spending time with her children, and grandchildren always reveling in their successes and achievements. She was supremely proud and considered each of them her greatest legacy. Throughout her marriage she and Bill enjoyed traveling to all but two states, Alaska and Hawaii, and dining and sharing special moments with friends. Ann lived all but the last four years of her life in Massachusetts, when because of her health, she moved to Naples, to be closer to her daughter. She truly loved everything about New England the fall foliage, fresh fallen snow, rides along the coastline, the rolling hills and mountains, sitting by the fire, sunset cruises on the lake and of course the Red Sox, and Patriots.

It is in keeping with her wishes that a private memorial service is scheduled for Friday, September 14, 2018 with her burial and final resting place to be with her husband in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Chelmsford, Massachusetts.

The family wishes to extend much gratitude and appreciation to all those who have made Ann's life one filled with caring love, friendship, and beautiful memories.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America or the American Parkinson's Disease Association.
