Arthur S. Tarlow, 95, of Naples FL and formerly of Marion, MA passed away on June 6, 2018. His beloved wife of 68 years, Thelma H. Tarlow ("Skip"), predeceased him in 2017. He is survived by his sons Thomas, Andrew and Arthur, Jr. and his wife, Janet; grandsons, Benjamin and Thomas Tarlow; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Tarlow; and niece, Linda Maddy.

Arthur was born in 1922 and grew up in Brockton, MA. He graduated from Andover Academy and Harvard, joining the Navy in 1943. He served in the South Pacific in World War II as Commanding Officer on a submarine chaser.

After the war, Arthur returned to Brockton, Massachusetts to join the Alden Shoe Company, his family's business. He became President of Alden upon his father's death in 1974. To his credit was the creation in 1948 of the original tassel moccasin, which became an icon of American traditional style for men, and the development of an extensive orthopedic and medical footwear program. He remained Chairman of the Board of Alden until his death.

A lifelong and excellent golfer, Arthur is memorialized on many a clubhouse tournament plaque. He was a member of The Kittansett Club of Marion, MA and the Audubon Country Club of Naples, FL as well as several others during his life. He also enjoyed sailing the coastal waters of New England with family and friends on his ketches Sea Skip and Aldena.

Arthur exhibited his generous spirit to family, friends and many philanthropies. He gave of his time and business knowledge as well, serving on boards of banks, golf clubs and associations. Throughout his life in all his activities, both business and pleasure, he forged countless deep and lasting friendships. He was admired and loved by many and will be greatly missed.

A private service will be held at a later date in Fultonville, New York.
