Blanche Ann Ruff

Naples - Blanche Ann Ruff, 80, of Naples, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Blanche was born in Akron, Ohio, to James and Lucille (Condon) Richards. After graduating from St. Vincent-St. Mary Catholic High School, she earned her cosmetology degree from Gerber Beauty School. She met and married the love of her life, Edward J. Ruff (the tall skinny one), on May 5, 1962. The couple, along with their four children, moved to Naples in 1972.

Blanche adored her husband; doted on her precious children and grandchildren; loved deeply; valued her friendships; was always quick to laugh; hosted epic parties; and shared the love of Christ that lived within her with every day that she lived.

Her generous spirit could be found in her council with family and friends, donations of time and fortune to many local and national organizations-including the St. Mathews House and the Community Pregnancy Clinics, and in gently professing her faith and love of God's word to everyone that she came in contact with.

Blanche, you have "fought the good fight of the faith" and you can now truly "be still and know that I am God."

Blanche was preceded in death by her dear parents and brothers, James and John.

Blanche is survived by her loving husband, children Kelly, Patrick, Eddie (Tracy) and Kathy (Trent Carter), and Laura Frazier-Ruff. Her grandchildren, Christian, Chase and Cathryn; James, Michael and Nicolas; and Lucy and Hastings Carter. Her siblings, Sally Ward, Mary Lou Baker, Jean Flory and Joyce Varga, and many nieces and nephews.

A mass for Blanche will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021,10:30 a.m. at St. William Catholic Church, 601 Seagate Drive, Naples, FL 34108. For those who are not able to attend, the mass can be viewed during the service at

My heart goes out to the Ruff Family for your loss. Blanche had the best humor imaginable and I remember it well on my many visits to the Ruff home as a teenager. She and Ed showed me a great example of a loving home and I will always remember this and her kind spirit. Prayers to the family during this difficult time. - Christi (Trejo) Burton

Always happy and always engaging is how I would best describe, Mrs. Ruff. I have many fun memories of Mrs. Ruff over the past 49 years. And Mrs. Ruff raised a wonderful family, too. Peace be with you, Mrs. Ruff.

To us Ruff girls Blanche was never an in-law, but a dear sister and friend. We will miss the wonderful talks full of love and laughter that we all shared!
