Mary Ann deMoya Obituary
Mary Ann deMoya

Naples, FL

Mary Ann deMoya, 90, of Naples Fla, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2018.

Born in Philadelphia May 30, 1928, she was a member of the Moorings Presbyterian Church of Naples. Mary Ann previously lived in Ridley Park, Penn., Richfield and Edina, Minn., and Oakbrook and Kildeer, Ill. Mary Ann was a longtime member of the GFWC Naples Woman's Club, where she served as an officer, and assigned scholarships for the Dorothy Edwards Scholarship Fund for children.

Mary Ann was also involved with the Naples Newcomers Women's club, serving as president in 1987.

A teacher early in her career, she later worked at The World of Golf in Naples for 18 years, and also volunteered at North Collier Hospital gift shop, accumulating over 2,100 hours of service before her 90th birthday.

Mary Ann was an avid reader who especially enjoyed works of American history. She was very well informed about politics, followed current events closely, and loved to engage in lively, constructive conversation on a range of topics. A passionate football fan, she rooted enthusiastically for the Eagles, Vikings, and Bears, and any opponent of both the Dolphins and Cowboys. She played golf in her younger years, and was a good swimmer and bicyclist. She also loved playing bridge, and met many wonderful friends at the Naples Bridge Center who shared her love of the game and whose friendship and camaraderie she treasured.

A loving mother and mother-in-law and a very loyal friend, Mary Ann will be sorely missed by many. Her family is grieving deeply over the loss of a wonderful person and caring spirit whose love, example, and guidance will serve as a beacon for the rest of their lives.

She is survived by her loving son David deMoya and daughter-in-law Marilyn Wahe. Other survivors include her granddaughter, Jacqueline Harrison; nieces Meredith

Young-Nero (Philip), Melody Young (Brian Downs); and nephew George Guyer Young III. Mary Ann was pre-deceased by her

husband Vincent L. deMoya, her daughter Donna deMoya Harrison, and her brother George Guyer Young Jr.

A memorial service will be held at Moorings Presbyterian, Dec. 8, 2018 at 11a.m. in Naples, Fla. in the Webster Chapel. A reception will follow the memorial service in Moss Hall at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's support network in Naples or the National (specify research) would be very much appreciated.
