Merlin "Merl" W. Neumeyer of Naples, Florida, age 91, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at VITAS Inpatient
Hospice Unit at Physicians Regional Medical Center. Merl passed peacefully, with dear friend Diana
Marshall by his side. Merl was born
December 3, 1927 in Frankenlust Township, Bay County, Michigan to Edwin and
Hedwig (Walter) Neumeyer, the fourth of seven children. He attended St. Paul Lutheran School in Bay City, MI and was confirmed in St. Paul Lutheran Church. Merl served in the U.S. Navy as a fireman, stationed in
Panama City, Panama during the Korean conflict. Merl
married the former Nancy Herron on April 20, 1956. Merl, Nancy, and daughter Lynda relocated to Naples in 1967, where he continued to work for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement. Merlin will be remembered as a devoted, caring, and good-natured man. He was a dedicated blood donor for most of his life. He was also a strong supporter of Habitat for Humanity, supporting projects locally and abroad. He enjoyed attending concerts in Cambier Park and performances at The Naples Players. Merl enjoyed traveling, especially cruises taken with Nancy and Lynda and his
annual visits to Bay City. Merl particularly enjoyed a good game of euchre, bridge, and cribbage. Merl is
survived by sisters Anita Herron, Shirley Wachtel, and Donna (Roy) Schmidt. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Irene
Neumeyer and Lorraine Neumeyer and by many
nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Merl was
predeceased by wife Nancy (Herron) Neumeyer and daughter Lynda Neumeyer. He was also predeceased by brothers Lloyd Neumeyer and Marvin Neumeyer, and sister Alvera Selle. Cremation has taken place, with interment at The
Memorial Garden of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Naples. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at a later date. Memorials in Merlin's name may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 777 Mooring Line Dr., Naples, FL, 34102 or to Habitat for Humanity of Collier County, 11145 Tamiami Trail E, Naples. FL 34113. Merl's family would like to
particularly thank Diana Marshall for the care, compassion, and friendship that she provided to Merl. Cremation has been entrusted to The Beachwood Cremation Society, 4444 Tamiami Tr. Naples, FL 34103.

Merlin was our neighbor in Falling Waters since 2009. He always had a smile and warm greeting every time he saw you while he sat everyday outside his garage taking in the day. He will be greatly missed. RIP
