Rose Costaregni

Naples, FL

Rose Costaregni, 92, died peacefully on Friday July 20, at the Frances Georgeson Hospice House at AVOW in Naples, FL, beloved wife of the late Daniel Costaregni.

Rose began her incredible journey in Dasa, Calabria, Italy. She was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Sarafina Bruni. At the age of 9, Rose and her family emigrated to Cuba by ship, where she spent the next 20 years of her life. In 1954, at her sister Mary's wedding at Manero's Restaurant in Greenwich, CT, Rose met Daniel. Within two weeks of meeting they were married. This past July 4th would have marked their 63rd wedding anniversary.

It was in Greenwich where Rose and Dan built their life together, raising four children and establishing their business, Pastrami Dan's. Rose was blessed with many gifts and talents that she generously shared. Two of these gifts were her entrepreneurial spirit and her strong business sense. Together, Rose helped Dan, build their restaurant into the successful and welcoming enterprise that has been in operation since 1972, in Greenwich and Naples.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Simmons of Naples, FL and her sons Daniel Costaregni and his wife Beth of Naples, FL, Patrick Costaregni and his wife Shelly of Wakefield, RI, and Mark Costaregni and his wife Holly of Miami Beach, FL and eight grandchildren, Amanda Martin and her husband Trevor, Nick Costaregni, Danielle Rutkoski, Mark Rutkoski, Matthew Costaregni, Megan Costaregni, Jack Costaregni and Carly Costaregni. She was the sister of Joseph Bruni, Nina Scarcello, and the late Mary Vavala.

Rose was best known for her kind, loving, generous spirit, and for her great humor. She was an incredible wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, and grandmother. Throughout her life Rose enriched the lives of everyone she touched through her kindness, love, friendship, faith and giving nature. Rose showed her love in many ways, especially with her gift of cooking. She often brought family and friends together with her legendary meals, especially her signature Italian dinner.

Family, friends and others are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial that will be held on Friday July 27, 2018 at 10 a.m., at St. William Catholic Church, 601 Seagate Drive, Naples, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to AVOW Hospice, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105 or the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul.
