Raymond Ferro Marco Island, FL
Raymond Ferro, 90, of Marco Island, FL, passed away in Naples, Monday, May 10, 2010. Ray was born on July 17, 1919 in Norris, IL. After graduating from Canton High School, he was a proud veteran of the Army Air Corp serving in the Pacific Theater during WW II. Ray worked for Bell, IL, later moving to Kankakee, IL, where he met and married Silvia Sue Snell. They shared a special loving bond for more than 60 years.
They moved to Vero Beach, FL, where Ray pursued his passion for fishing, boating, and golf while working for Bellsouth. When Ray retired in January of 1982, they moved to Marco Island. On Marco, he was able to fish almost every day and enjoyed "happy hour" at favorite local establishments where he could trade "tales" with his many friends.
His wife, Sue, and his stepson, Michael Wilhoit, preceded Ray in death in 2009.
He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Christopher Wilhoit, and Sarah Wilhoit Beatty, of Tinley Park, IL.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any charity of choice.
