Ruby "Nannie" Ellen Hardy Burks, age 93, died Tuesday July 1, 2025, at her home. She was born on November 7, 1931, in Union County at home to, Johnnie A. and Pearl Melson Hardy. She was a retired nurse from the days of Shands Hospital to the transformation of Baptist Memorial Hospital/ Union County, working in all departments, with her being in the nursery last. Also, she was the office nurse for Dr. David Ellis and Dr. Bostick during her nursing career. She was a member of Keownville Baptist Church.

She is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Owens (Benny) and Brenda Hodges; one son, Richard Burks (Anna); thirteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel Burks; son Mike Burks, and two grandchildren, Buffy Hodges and B.J. Owens.

Services to honor her life will be Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at United Funeral Service. A visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Bro. Jerry Bishop will officiate. Burial will be at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Tucker Owens, Benton Burks, Braxton Burks, Hagen White, Hudson White, Konner Bullock, and Ethan Bullock.
