Rick L. Simpson
NEWARK: A funeral service for Rick L. Simpson, age 54, of Newark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, at Criss-Schoedinger Funeral Home with Pastor Lewis G. McNerney officiating. Burial will take place in Welsh Hills Cemetery.
Rick passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio). He was born March 10, 1959 in Newark, Ohio to the late Joseph R. and Theda Mae (Peyton) Simpson.
Rick was currently employed with the Granville Milling Company since 1998 and was formerly employed with Pound's Nursery for twenty-three years. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the OSU Buckeyes. He loved camping and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Elisa (Sponseller) Simpson, whom he married March 11, 1984; and by a sister, Sandy (Paul) Williams of Newark; five brothers, Jim (Rose) Simpson, Mike (Debbie) Simpson, Rod Simpson, Barry (Ruth) Simpson and Kevin (Shelly) Simpson, all of Newark; brother-in-law, William (Mary) Sponseller of Newark; many nieces and nephews; and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Jean Sponseller.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, and also one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio.
