NEWARK: A Mass of Christian Burial for Donald James Hunt, 84, of Newark, will be held at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 10:00 A.M., Monday, November 12, 2012 with Msgr. Paul Enke celebrating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Mr. Hunt, a United States Navy WWII Veteran, died at Licking Memorial Hospital on Thursday, November 8, 2012. He was born in Zanesville, Ohio on November 27, 1927 to the late Arthur G. and Elizabeth (Gable) Hunt.

Donald was a graduate of St. Thomas High School, Zanesville, and Xavier University. He retired after 35 years from Continental Can/ Ludlow/ American National Can as Plant Industrial Engineer in Newark and Mt. Vernon.

Don was a parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church where he was an usher at the late Sunday morning Mass for over 40 years, a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Vincent DePaul Council, and a former member of parish council. He was also a supporter and volunteer at St. John Community Kitchen in Columbus.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, David and Carole Hunt, of Kirkwood, Missouri, and Bradley and Therese Hunt of West Chester, OH; his grandchildren, Colin, Kate, Kelly, Lauren, Allison, and Abby; his brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Jerry and Phyllis Hunt of Decatur, Illinois; and his sister-in-law, Pat Hunt of Lewis Center.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his wife of 41, Margery (Minner) Hunt, in 1993; his brothers, Larry Hunt and Robert (Fay) Hunt; and special friend, Dora Amos.

Friends and family may call at the church for one hour prior to the Mass on Monday.
