NEWARK: A funeral service for Howard J. Ridella will be held at 10AM, Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home in Newark. Pastor Tim Sowards will officiate and burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville. Friends and family may call from 2-4 & 6-8PM, Friday, at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st Street in Newark.

Mr. Ridella, 68, of Newark, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Kindred Transitional Care Center in Newark. He was born October 8, 1944, in Parma, a son of the late John and Alice (Gabor) Ridella. A 1963 graduate of Newark High School, he enjoyed all sports, playing football, basketball, golf and track while in high school. Mr. Ridella continued to be a life-long supporter of Newark Wildcat athletic programs. While he attended Scottsbluff Junior College in Nebraska, he played on the college golf team. For many years, he coached baseball at North Newark Little League. He retired from Owens-Corning Fiberglas and then worked at the Longaberger Golf Club and the Granville Golf Course. He was an honorary member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Mr. Ridella and his wife also owned and operated the Frame Up store in downtown Newark.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Sandra L. (Drumm) Ridella, whom he married June 11, 1966; two sons, Todd (Kerry) Ridella of Newark, Tyler (Jennifer) Ridella of Newark and a sister, Alice (Eugene) Donnelly of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Ridella.

Memorial contributions may be made to the or Catholic Social Services; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
