Thomas Morgan Ayers

NEWARK: Surrounded by his family and loved ones on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, Thomas Morgan Ayers walked the staircase to his eternal life in heaven.

Tom was born June 5, 1931 to the late William and Delphia (Thomas) Ayers in Newark, Ohio. He was the 'middle child of five siblings including Helen Reed, Ruth Vincent, and William Ayers. His youngest sister Delores (Punky) Pethtel preceded him in death in 2010.

September 21st 1954, Tom married the love of his life Mona Gaye (Garey) Ayers and together they raised four girls. Brenda Lee (George) Fenton, Deborah Sue (Jeff) Dalzell, Sandra Elizabeth, and Joanne Renee Ayers (Mark Yontz), all of Newark, Ohio. Tom lost his daughter Sandra to leukemia in 1962 and his "Lovie," Mona to cancer in 1998.

He served three years in the United States Army, 2nd Infantry Division in the Korean War. He worked at Roper and Owens Corning Fiberglass where he was a welder. After retiring he worked other jobs such as a custodian, bus driver and dump truck driver for NuWay. Tom enjoyed camping and traveling with his motorcycle "buddies." He went weekly to auctions and to his relators' office to visit friends. Watching NASCAR races on the weekends, along with spending many hours in his garage woodworking, were a couple of his favorite pastimes.

"Papaw" loved teasing his grandchildren, Autumn Sauceda, Kathryn Fenton, George Fenton, Tara (Charles) Grogg, Nicki Dalzell, Nathan Ayers, Mackenzie (Duane) Markley, and Regan Yontz his "Little Possum." His great grandchildren, Hannah, Haylee, Hayden, Hanson, Hunter, Hilary, Holden, Payton, Gabrielle, and Alexander.

There will be no calling hours and a graveside service will be held at a later date for family.
