Heath, Ohio - A memorial service celebrating the life of Charles Eugene "Gene" Clark, age 87, of Heath will be held on Saturday September 22nd, at 3:30 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2740 Newark Granville Road Granville Ohio. An additional celebration of life will follow at Franklin Township Community Center 11152 Flint Ridge Road, Newark. Everyone who knew Gene is welcome to celebrate his life with his family.

Gene passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at his residence with his loving family at his side. He was born on October 17, 1930 in Bonnie Blue, Virginia to the late Ulyess and Beulah O. (Barker) Clark.

Gene worked as a coal miner from a very young age in Virginia before moving to Ohio where he was employed by Kaiser Aluminum for 37 ½ years before retiring. He was a member of The United Steelworkers Union, Local #341and was active with the Licking County Civil Defense. He enjoyed operating his ham radio, playing cards, boating and water skiing at Buckeye Lake. He was also an avid collector of coins and Beanie Babies. Gene had a quit wit, a wonderful sense of humor and could fix just about any electronic device. Gene and his family spent much time at the Buckeye Lake Amusement Park where he operated the Skee-Ball lanes. Most of all he deeply loved his children and grandchildren, family was everything to him.

He is survived by a son, Timothy L. (Paula) Clark of Heath; three daughters, Debra L. (Barry) Owens of Newark, Ninotchka K. "Nikki" (John) Rodden of Hebron and Kimberly D. (Carroll) Grant of Heath; a sister, Shirley Kelly; four brothers, Wayne Clark of Zanesville, Bennie (Sherry) Clark of Newark, Harrell Clark of Columbus and Lanny Clark of Big Stone Gap, Virginia; thirteen grandchildren, Kevin and Samantha Clark of Heath, Jennifer Owens of Newark, Brian and Tracie Owens of Buckeye Lake, Daniel and Tabby Clark of Buckeye Lake, Tony and Jennie Clark of Buckeye Lake, Sarah and Erik Waters of Cape Coral, Florida, Gina and Chet Reed of Newark, Amanda and Brandon Ray of Utica, Jessica and Chris Allen of Heath, Simone (Jordan) Phillips of Newark, Serena Grant of Newark and Joshua and Keniesha Grant of Columbus; twenty great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mary Sue Clark, whom he married July 5, 1950; two sons, infant, Delbert Clark (1953) and Michael Clark (2001); and several brothers and sisters.
