Newark - A service celebrating the life of Charles Ronald "Ron" McFarland will be held at 2pm, on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at the Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home in Newark. Dave Mason will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, where the Licking County Veterans Alliance will conduct Military Funeral Honors. Family and friends may call from 4pm-8pm, on Tuesday, at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st Street and from Noon until the 2pm, service time on Wednesday.

Ron passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Riverside Methodist Hospital following a brief illness. He was born February 24, 1937, in Chillicothe, Ohio, a son of the late Charles and Katherine (Northey) McFarland.

He had attended The Ohio State University and was a veteran of the US Air Force serving at Elmendorf AF Base in Anchorage, Alaska and Nellis AF Base in Reno, Nevada. His hobbies and interest included hunting, coins and fishing in Canada with his cousin Gary Wheeler. He also enjoyed entertaining family and friends. He and his wife were members of the Heath Church of Christ. For many years he worked at the GAB Insurance Agency and he retired from Grange Insurance in 2003.

He married Diane (Seyler) McFarland who passed away in 1982. Surviving are their son, Charles Ronald McFarland II, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida; his second wife Connie; his granddaughter Ryann McFarland and great-granddaughter Presley McFarland; his sister Nancy McFarland of The Laurels of Health.
