James Charles Iler, Jr.

Hendersonville, TN - James Charles Iler, Jr., age 80, of Hendersonville, TN, passed away January 10, 2018 in Nashville, TN. He was born in Newark, OH on September 23, 1937 to the late James and Freda (Hughes) Iler. Jim was a Vietnam veteran and retired from the United States Air Force after serving 21 years. He also retired from the Newark Air Force Base. He was a troop leader for the Boy Scouts of America and remained involved as a volunteer through 2017. He volunteered at Mary Ann Township Fire Department and was a volunteer umpire for Licking Valley Schools and Little League baseball.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Peggy (Taylor) Iler, Hendersonville, TN; sons James Charles Iler, III, Nashville, TN; Eric Iler (Kelly) and Jeffrey Iler (Amidy), Newark, OH; grandchildren Gavin, Megan, Declan, JC, Jennifer, Brandon and Kara; great-grandchildren Hanna, Ethan, Haylee and Myles; brothers Harry Iler, FL and Trophy Iler (Ginny), St. Louisville, OH and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by in-laws, Glyn and Bonnie Taylor, brother Fred Iler and sisters Pat Cable and Dee Rector.

Visitation is January 16 from 6-8pm at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home in Nashville, TN. Graveside service with military honors, conducted by Rev. Rosemary Brown, is 1pm, January 17, at Middle-TN State Veterans Cemetery, Nashville.
