Newark - Pearl Hocutt, 91, of Newark, died Sunday, August 5, 2018 at her home surrounded by family. She was born May 22, 1927 in Buckhannon, WV to the late Noah and Lelah (Hinkle) Bennett.

Pearl was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene for 41 years and was very active in the church. She served on the church board, Sunday School board, and served for 21 years as the senior adult ministry director. While in Florida she started a adults senior group and held Bible study and Christian Lady Luncheon in her home. Pearl joined the Christian Union Church in 2002 where she worked as senior director.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Paul Hocutt; son, Rick Brown of Utica; two daughters, Sharon Naegele of Delaware and Janie Jacks; two step daughters, Ryta Patterson of Heath and Phylis Sorrel of Alabama; two step sons, Vince Hocutt and Brian Hocutt both of Alabama; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several very special nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son, Jerry Brown; first husband, Robert Brown; second husband, Thurl Willis; and 14 brothers and sisters.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospice for their care and support.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8 PM at the Brucker- Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark, where the funeral service will be Thursday at 10:00 AM with Rev. Claude Nichols and Rev. Bill Beard officiating. Burial will follow the service in Newark Memorial Gardens.
