Bruce C. McLamb, 75, of New Bern and Durham, passed away on Wednesday, December 5th, 2018 at his home.
Born in Dunn, NC, on March 17, 1943, Bruce was the son of the late, Bruce McLamb and Alice Ennis McLamb Stancil. When Bruce was eighteen months old, his father was killed in combat in World War II in Paris, France. His mother later married James Willard Stancil of Raleigh. Bruce graduated from East Carolina University where he was a founding member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity and remained extremely close to these brothers through the years. Bruce retired from Duke University and Duke Health System in 2001 as Associate Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer after 32 years of service. He was an avid sailor and E.C.U. Pirate. He and Gail raised five generations of Brittany Spaniels who were very near and dear to their hearts.
In addition to his parents, Bruce was also preceded in death by his brother, James Mark Stancil.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Gail Parker McLamb; sister, Toni Deichmann (Mike) of New Bern; niece, Amanda Stancil Daley (Matt) of Raleigh; aunt, Hazel Ennis Lee of Mebane; many relatives on both sides of the family; and his loving dog, "Petie."
A celebration of Bruce's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12th at Cotten Funeral Home with the Rev. Angel Lorton officiating. A reception will follow the service.
