Herbert Fisher


NEW BERN - Herbert Fisher, 105, of 311 Scott St., James City Community, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011 at CarolinaEast Medical Center.

He was a native of Historic James City and was a member of Pilgrim Chapel M. B. Church. He was a retiree of the Coca-Cola Bottling Company, New Bern. He was also a Guinness Book record holder.

His funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Pilgrim Chapel M. B. Church with the Rev. Joseph Winbush, pastor, officiating. The interment will follow in the Meadows Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 86 years, Zelmyra G. Fisher of the home; two sons, Franklin I. Fisher Sr. of New Bern and Herbert Fisher Jr. of Walla Walla, Wash.; two daughters, Norma F. Godette of New Bern and Ludie B. Baker of Washington, D.C.; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the residence. Viewing will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, at Oscars' Mortuary.
