Vencen Locklear, age 74, loving husband and father, passed on February 23, 2017. He is survived by spouse Fannie Locklear; son Robert Locklear and wife Lena; grandson Jordan Locklear; brothers: Cleveland Locklear, James Locklear, Harvey Locklear, Dock Locklear, Gerald Locklear, Harlouis Locklear, Hamp Jacobs, and Thomas Jacobs; sisters: Mable Locklear, Catherine Locklear, and Lou Ann Jones; step daughter Diane Boyd and husband Brent; step son Bill Griffin and wife Pam; and all his step grandchildren.
Vence (aka Chief) was preceded in death by mother Susanna (aka Doll) Locklear, father Henry Locklear, siblings Kenneth Locklear, Marie Locklear Sykes, Jane Locklear Griffin, Florence Locklear Lewis, Versie Morris, Anson Jacobs and Pat Jacobs Motes.
Vence was a long-time Pepsi Cola employee who was very active with many hobbies. He was self-taught on many instruments and was passionate about playing/singing country music at local venues with the Pickin & Grinin group. Vence was well known in the community and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Vence was devoted to Fannie and deeply loved by all her family.
A country music celebration of Vence's life will be Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 4 p.m. at the Rhems Fire Department (open to family and friends). A private graveside service is being planned.
