Passed away peacefully, with his daughter by his side, on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at his residence of Brucelea Haven Long Care Home, Walkerton. Joseph was born 85 years ago in Porto Empedock, Sicily, Italy and has been a longtime resident of New Hamburg, Ontario. Cherished and loving father of Charles Firetto and Karen Firetto-Gross and husband Terry Firetto-Gross. Dearly loved Grandfather of Joseph (Rachel), Rebecca (Jacob), Anthony, Dylan (Kelsey), Breanna (Jason) as well as a Great-Grandfather. Joseph will be forever missed by his siblings all of Italy, Assanta Firetto, Salvatore and Itali Firetto and Pacifico and Maria Firetto. Joseph is now reunited with his beloved wife Joan Marjorie (Hoeffler) Firetto who predeceased him July 25, 2007, son Richard and daughter-in-law Sheri Firetto and brother Tony and by two sisters Rosa and husband Cherlanto and Vincezina and husband Sebastian. Joseph was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hamburg. Joseph was employed by the Waterloo Regional Police Service and retired after 39 years in the maintenance department. With respect to the provincial lock down, a private family service will take place at the funeral home. Joseph will be laid to rest with his beloved wife and cherished son at Riverside Cemetery, New Hamburg. As expressions of sympathy, donations are being accepted to Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hamburg or Alzheimer's Society of Ontario and can be done by contacting the funeral home or on the website. Sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. We spent many years as neighbours way back and have lost touch over the years. Thinking of you all at this sad time. We recently lost our father in the fall as well and understand what you're going through.
